[unpad.ac.id, 01/10/2020] Universitas Padjadjaran student of Information Technology study program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Marcell Antonius Dermawan won second place in business with SDGs aspects planning at the National Student Competition in Business Science, Management, and Finance (KBMK) 2020.
He achieved this achievement for his idea of supporting the preservation of Sumba’s woven fabrics through a digital application.
KBMK 2020 was held by the National Achievement Center of Ministry of Education and Culture of The Republic of Indonesia (Puspresnas Kemdikbud RI) in September 2020. This achievement was attained by Marcell with his partner, Bella Octaviolla, a student of Bina Nusantara University Bandung.
“My team and I provide a solution, namely an application called Noesa. Noesa is an application that aims to support the distribution of Sumba’s woven fabrics so that it can improve their economic conditions and social awareness of the younger generations regarding Sumba’s woven fabrics,” said Marcell when contacted by the Unpad Public Communication Office (KKP), Thursday (1/10).
According to Marcell, Sumba’s woven fabrics have high artistic values. However, a lot of Indonesians themselves do not recognize the beauty of the textiles. Whereas, this fabric has a high price on the international market.
“Therefore, we chose this woven fabric so that it can improve the economy in Sumba and preserve the cultural heritage that must be passed down from generation to generation,” he expressed.
Marcell explained that Noesa aims to directly connect prospective buyers with the weavers in an easy and efficient way. This application is also an answer to the challenges of the New Normal era, where a lot of aspects of marketing utilizes online media.
In addition, this application also opens opportunities for investors to support the preservation of woven fabrics while increasing the economic growth of Sumba. Investors will also get the results and benefits that have been agreed upon.
“We not only provide a platform for investment, but also help improve the infrastructure of education in Sumba, whose funds come from some percentage of the sales and stated in our sales feature,” added Marcell.
Marcell said that the main focus of his application is to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“[With its features], it is hoped that Noesa will be ready to face the target of the Sustainable Development Goals in 2030,” he hoped.(arm) *
