[unpad.ac.id, 1/10/2020] The International Project Smart Apiculture Management Service (SAMS) has come to an end after 3 years of execution since January 2018. The Unpad SAMS team has done many activities focusing on the Indonesian Beekeeping business.

This was delivered by the SAMS team at the 7th Steering Committee Meeting that was held virtually on 23-25 September 2020.

During the March–September 2020 period, the programs that the Unpad SAMS team has completed include writing a survey report that occurred from January to February 2020 (report can be accessed through SAMS website), finding partner Beekeeping businesses that SAMS plans to support, and holding an online seminar and incubation of innovative Beekeeping model business.

“Our hope from these activities, is that Indonesia can improve the beekeeping business which not only involves the honey farmer or seller but also include other stakeholders that are involved in the value chain of the beekeeping business, such as the government, organizations, and academics,” said the Head research team of Unpad SAMS, Dr. Dwi Purnomo, M.T., in a release from the Unpad’s Public Communication Office (KKP).

The Steering Committee Meeting itself was held by SAMS routinely every 6 months. This meeting is usually held in one of the country members of the consortium in Europe.

However, this time there was a difference in the execution of the 7th Steering Committee Meeting. Due to the differences in the conditions and development of COVID-19 in every country, this meeting was held online.

“For the first time, the Steering Committee Meeting was held remotely after 6 meetings that were held face-to-face,” said Dr. Dwi.

In this meeting, every member of the SAMS consortium delivered their work package activities from each country that was held from March to September 2020. Other than that, all members of the consortium discussed the work steps to reach the goals and effects that were intended and formulated at the beginning of the project. (art)*
