President Jokowi Monitors COVID-19 Vaccine Clinical Trials at RSP Unpad

[unpad.ac.id, 11/8/2020] President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo or Jokowi, monitored the first injection process of the phase III COVID-19 vaccine trials at the Unpad Teaching Hospital (RSP Unpad), Jalan Eijkman No. 38, Bandung, Tuesday (11/8).
In the testing room, President Jokowi was accompanied by BUMN Minister Erick Thohir, Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto, and the head of the COVID-19 clinical trial research team and a Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Kusnandi Rusmil, Sp.A(K), MM.

The presence of President Jokowi was also to ensure that the clinical trial process of the vaccine, which originated from China, goes according to plan. It is hoped that the vaccine will be ready for mass production by January 2021.

The vaccine production will be carried out by PT. Bio Farma. If this research is successful, Bio Farma would be ready to produce around 250 million vaccines by the end of 2020, which can then be distributed to the wider community.
