[unpad.ac.id, 19\/10\/2020] Two teams of Geophysics students from Universitas Padjadjaran won achievements in a software competition specifically for students at the 45th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Association of Geophysics Experts (PIT HAGI) which was held online, last Saturday (17\/10).<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The software they created, namely “Pajabat” and “Indraja Buana” won second and third place in the competition.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Pajabat” stands for “Praniti Jatining Batu” which means a very detailed study of the original form of stone. The software “Pajabat” aims to calculate the physical parameters of rocks that are often found in petroleum and geothermal reservoirs.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Three Unpad Geophysics students who participated in the development of this software were Viraldi Diyesa, Erik Irawan, and Syifa Prasetyo.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n This device is built with a three-dimensional digital image processing technique algorithm. With this software, the user can calculate important physical parameters such as porosity, tortuosity, specific surface area, pore distribution, and permeability.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n This software can also display rock volume in three dimensions. The output of these parameters can later be used as a reference in the exploration process.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Meanwhile, “Indraja Buana” is a Sundanese word which means seeing the potential of the earth from afar. This device was developed by two Unpad Geophysics students, namely Rifky Nauval and Raihan Alfaridzi.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Indraja Buana” was built to retrieve data from remote sensing satellite imagery for later processing to see the changes in the physical and geophysical properties of the earth at any time.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Indraja Buana can do many things, including monitoring natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and forest fires; evaluation of agricultural land; area planning; natural resource monitoring (mineral and geothermal), and many other applications.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The selection process for these activities was carried out strictly, from May to September 2020. Consistently, the two teams managed to pass starting from the preliminary rounds, the top nine, the top five, the top three finals, until they finally won.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Lecturer at the Unpad Geophysics study program who also acted as the advisor for the two teams, Dr. Irwan Ary Dharmawan, said that these two applications can be accessed via the <\/span>http:\/\/grid.unpad.ac.id\/~pajabat<\/span><\/a> page for the Pajabat software and the <\/span>http:\/\/grid.unpad.ac.id\/~ijb<\/span><\/a> page for the Indraja Buana software.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “We deliberately save these two software on a web page so that everyone can access them because we developed both software in a user-friendly manner,” said Dr. Irwan.
