[unpad.ac.id, 27\/9\/2019] Ministry of Research, Technology & Higher Education RI through the Director-General of Learning and Student Affairs encouraged every university to use and become part of an online network of learning and research collaboration through the Indonesian Education Research Network (IdREN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was conveyed by the\nHead of the Special Learning Sub Directorate of the Director-General of Belmawa\nKemenristekdikti Uwes Anis Chaeruman in the “Seminar on Optimizing the Use\nof the IdREN Network in Supporting Learning in the Industrial Age 4.0” at\nGraha Sanusi Hardjadinata Unpad, Dipati Ukur Street No. 35, Bandung, Friday\n(9\/27).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Explained by Uwes, IdREN is a learning and research\nnetwork that connects universities in Indonesia through the intranet system\nusing Virtual Private Network (VPN). Not only connecting universities in\nIndonesia, but IdREN also connects with the Research and Education Network\n(REN) globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe existence of IdREN is a necessity in Indonesia,\nwhere we will connect 4,700 universities throughout Indonesia,\u201d said Uwes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through IdREN, it is hoped that there will be an\nexchange of information around learning material, research, up until doing collaborations\nbetween academics. This process is certainly done through an exclusive system\nthat is connected to an intranet network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This exclusive system is also supported by adequate\nnetwork infrastructure. At present, the Directorate General of Belmawa Dikti\nhas established cooperation with four internet providers. Through this\ncooperation, said Uwes, each provider provides 10% of the total bandwidth\ncapacity in tertiary institutions for VPN IdREN lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although it is targeted to\noperate optimally in 2020, she prepared a number of interesting activity plans\nat IdREN so that it can attract academicians to use the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe will provide Synchronous\nTele Learning service, Sepda Indonesia access, connection to global education\nand research, to content developers and digital learning models based on Open\nEducational Resources,\u201d said Uwes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Acting Rector of Unpad Prof. Dr. Rina Indiastuti, M.\nSIE., when opening the seminar explained that it is hoped that universities can\nutilize this network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf put in intensive use and the number of users is\nincreasing, then there will be an impact on improving the quality of education\nand research in Indonesia,\u201d said Prof. Rina.*<\/p>\n\n\n\n
