This activity was a continuation of the Kick-Off Meeting that was carried out by the International Consortium of Research Innovation and Staff Exchange_Social Media Analytics (RISE_SMA) for Society and Crisis Communication <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This activity was a continuation of the\nKick-Off Meeting that was carried out by the International Consortium of\nResearch Innovation and Staff Exchange_Social Media Analytics (RISE_SMA) for\nSociety and Crisis Communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team consisted\nof Prof. Dr. Budi Nurani Ruchjana from the Department of Mathematics, and Prof.\nDr. Atje Setiawan Abdullah from the Department of Computer Science. There, the\nteam presented material about Ethno-informatics with Spatial Data Mining to\nsupport cultural preservation in Indonesia through Toponymy (naming places) and\nAnthroponymy (naming people) studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This research was\nalso supported by multidisciplinary studies in the fields of computer science,\nhistory, culture, arts, language, economics, communication, mathematics, and\nstatistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team delivered\nmaterial about Ethno-informatics or the application of information technology\nin culture to support the implementation of Law No. 5\/2017 on Cultural\nPromotion. This was conveyed in a release received by the Unpad Office of\nPublic Communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toponymy research\nresults show that Indonesian folks possess the following traits: cultured,\nhard-working, respects their leaders, preserves their environment, loves their\nplace of residence, and has a good community culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This research is\nexpected to be an inspiration for Indonesian people to be able to understand\nthe culture of Indonesian people and is expected to be included in the\ncharacter education curriculum in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the\nresults of anthroponymy research show that the culture of naming people in\nIndonesia has changed more rapidly from year to year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This research\ncalls on Indonesian people to maintain their local culture when naming people.\nIn addition, this research became a recommendation for the government to\npreserve local culture and in upholding diversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This consortium\nwhich was funded by the European Union for the 2019-2022 period was chaired by\nProf. Dr. Stefan Stieglitz from UDE, involving LIACS Leiden University; the\nUniversity of Agder, Norway; the University of Sydney, the University of\nQueensland, UNISINOS Brazil, Virtimo Company and Kristiansand Municipality\nNorway and Unpad as representatives of developing countries. *<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Release\/fit<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instagram : <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/internationalofficeunpad\/\">@internationalofficeunpad<\/a><br>LinkedIn : International Office Universitas Padjadjaran<br>Twitter :\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/upgrade_io\/\">@upgrade_io<\/a><br>Facebook : Universitas Padjadjaran&#8217;s Global Relation and Advancements<br>Website : international.unpad.ac.id <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[unpad.ac.id, 3\/9\/2019] The research team from the Ethnoscience Division of the Center for Science and Technology Studies of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Universitas Padjadjaran, conducted a staff exchange at the University of Duisburg Essen (UDE), Duisburg-Germany, August 5 &#8211; September 3, 2019.
