The title of the research
is “Hydroxiapatit-Lantanun Oxide Composite from Chicken Egg Shells with
Hydrothermal Method”.

In a release accepted by Unpad Public Communication Office
Hendri explained, the hydrothermal method can be used for synthesis because of
how simple the procedure is and with high quality results.

“Synthesis method usually doesn’t give a result of more than
90%. By using water vapor pressure, this hydrothermal method managed to produce
a composite with a very good purity, homogeneity, and percentage gain,” he
explained.

The composite of chicken egg shells that’s very similar to
bones and teeth makes the formed composite possible to be used for bone graft
and tooth filling. That way, egg shell waste has a potential to be used for
biomedicine.

In maximizing the research results, the team will be doing
applicative tests such as strength and in vitro test. The applicative test is
to show that the synthesized composite can be used as bone graft and tooth
filling. The test will be done with Universitas Padjadjaran Faculty of Medicine
and Faculty of Dentistry.

Release/art
Translated by Dinda Ayu Maharani

Instagram: @internationalofficeunpad
LikedIn : International Office Universitas Padjadjaran
Twitter : @upgrade_io
Facebook : Universitas Padjadjaran’s Global Relation and Advancements
Website : international.unpad.ac.id

[unpad.ac.id, 8/7/2019] Three chemistry students from Universitas Padjadjaran Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science developed a synthetic composite method from chicken egg shells.
