The matter was addressed by Unpad Vice Rector for Research,\nCommunity Service, Partnerships and Academic Corporation Dr. Keri Lesteri,\nM.Si., Apt., during a meeting with a number of activists from Walhi Jabar at\nthe Unpad Vice Rector meeting room, Dipati Ukur street No. 35, Bandung, Monday\n(17\/6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Keri explained, both Unpad and Walhi have done a lot of\nprograms around the Citarum watershed area. Surely, these programs can be\nsynergized so that the program can be more comprehensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019d like to communicate with environmental activists about\nthe upcoming activities which are going to be held in Citarum. Why is\ncommunication needed? Because no matter how good a program is planned, if it\u2019s\nnot communicated well, it will be hard to implement,\u201d said Dr. Keri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unpad itself, she continued, has been doing research in\nCitarum for decades. This activity is strengthened even further by the\nestablishment of Center of Citarum Research (CCR) in Unpad. Through this\nresearch center, Unpad has cooperated with Massachussets Institute of\nTechnology (MIT) to do a joint research concerning Citarum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve agreed that research grand design roadmap is from\nUnpad, but we also need to listen to what the public needs, and we must also\ncollaborate with communities that hold environmental activities,\u201d said Dr.\nKeri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hopefully, the synergy between university and community in\nthe Citarum area can bring about a real change. Dr. Keri emphasized that this\nreal change is measured with various indicators in the Sustainable Development\nGoals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the opportunity, Head of CCR Unpad Dr. Cipta Endayana,\nM.T., addressed the profile of CCR Unpad. This center collect transdisciplinary\nresearch in various sub-watershed and subsector in Citarum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding this synergy, Dr. Cipta ecnougraed that the\nresponsibilities in solving the problem in Citarum must be shared to every\nactors. Every sector or sub-watershed of Citarum must have a coordinator. \u201cTo\navoid an overload. Thus, we need public communities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Director of Walhi Jabar Dadan Ramdan gave an appreciation to\nUnpad\u2019s intention in doing synergy in Citarum. All this time, his organization\nhas done many programs. From planting seeds in upstream areas, village\nintegration, to educating people concerning waste management in sub-watershed\nof Citarum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As from the Unpad, the meeting was attended by the Unpad\u2019s\nDirector of Research, Community Service, and Innovation Rizky Abdullah, Apt.,\nPhD, as well as Head of International Office dr. Ronny, PhD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
