Such is\ntold by the Indonesian Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education\nProf. Mohamad Nasir in his speech celebrating the national education day\n(Hardiknas) 2019. The speech was read by Universitas Padjadjaran Acting\nChancellor Universitas Padjadjaran Prof. Dr.\nRina Indiastuti, M.SIE., as the ceremonial counselor during the celebration of national education\nday ceremony 2019 held at the yard of Unpad campus, Dipati Ukur street no. 35,\nBandung, Thursday (2\/5).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prof. Rina\nexplained, the gross participation rate of higher education in Indonesia in\n2018 is still at 34.58%. Meanwhile, there is currently 4,741 higher education\ninstitutions in Indonesia. This means that around 65% of college-aged children\ncannot get higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government attempts\nto revolutionize higher education. Online-based education such as, MOOCs\n(Massive Open Online Courses), up to \u2018Cyber University\u2019 have been done by some\nuniversities in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other than that,\nprovision of new college courses in harmony with the current global conditions,\nsuch as big data, data analytics, and entrepreneurship is still kept up. This\nis intended to prepare university graduates to be ready for future challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRealizing the\nhigh hopes of government and Indonesian public for universities in giving\neducation for the next generation of leaders to be competitive, creative, and\ninnovative, universities in Indonesia have to evolve and be pushed to be\ncapable in digital transformation,\u201d said Prof. Rina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the human resources sector, the competitiveness of students, lecturers, and education staff are being developed through data literation, technology literation, and human literation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\u201cTechnological\nadvancement shows the advancement of education and science that must also\ndignify and prosper humans and Indonesians,\u201d said Prof. Rina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the\nceremony, 535 lecturers and education staffs in Unpad received the Satyalencana\nKarya Satya award from the indonesian president, Joko Widodo. The number\ncomprises of 301 staff with 30-year Satyalancana Karya Satya, 33 staff with\n20-year Satyalancana Karya Satya, and the rest with 10-year Satyalancana Karya\nSatya. The award was given symbolically by Prof. Rina Indiastuti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
