To the participants,\nUnpad presented the management of the campus environment that had been carried\nout. The theme of the event was “Raising the Participation of Higher\nEducation on Nurturing the Environment Through Sustainability Office”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The talk about\nthe environment has become natural for Unpad. The principal of Unpad scientific\npattern is to (honor) law and environment for national development,” said\nthe Vice Chancellor for Governance, Planning and Information Systems, Dr. Sigid\nSuseno, SH., M. Hum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On this occasion, Dr.\nSigid explained about the Unpad governance architecture toward the concept of\nthe office of sustainability. He explained, the focus of sustainability in Unpad\nis related to governance and infrastructure, energy management, waste\nmanagement, water management, transportation, education, and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Sustainability\nmust be a keyword that characterizes the policies that we make,” said Dr.\nSigid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Further, he said that\nUnpad had formed a special unit tasked with managing the sustainability campus,\nnamely the Environmental Management Office under the Directorate of Facilities\nand Infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some of Unpad’s\nstrategic policies in terms of environmental management are related to\ninfrastructure development with the concept of sustainability, waste management\nin the campus environment, management of groundwater resources, reduction in\nthe number of private vehicles on campus, and reduction of paper and plastic\nuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Sigid explained\nthat the e-office application in the Integrated Administrative Information\nSystem (SIAT) has been proven to increase efficiency, especially in terms of\nreducing paper use in Unpad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Head of\nUnpad Environmental Management Office, Dr. Teguh Husodo, M.Sc., explained about\nthe environmental management system to sustainability office. He also explained\nthat some Unpad programs were associated with Greenmetrics UI indicators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Besides being given the\npresentation (in the workshop), participants from various universities in\nIndonesia were also invited to tour the Unpad Jatinangor campus to see\nfirsthand how environmental management was carried out by Unpad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Met during the event,\nDr. Teguh revealed that by being trusted as the organizer of the event, it is clear\nthat Unpad had been considered as one of the universities that has good campus\nenvironment management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last year, Unpad was\nranked ninth in Greenmetrics UI ranking. In this assessment, Unpad was among\nthe best indicators of water conservation management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“(We) are hoping Unpad\nto share its experience in managing the campus environment, not only for\nUnpad’s self-evaluation, so that the management of the campus environment will\nnot only be better in the future, but it can also be a role model for other\nuniversities that are not thorough yet in managing the campus\nenvironment,” said Dr. Sigid. *<\/p>\n\n\n\n
