(Photo: Tedi Yusup) * <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This was conveyed by Prof. Jazi during a public lecture on \u201cThe Role of Law Scholars in Supervision of Nuclear Power Utilization\u201d in front of Unpad Faculty of Law students.\nThe public\nlecture was held at the Tommy Koh-Mochtar Kusumaatmadja Auditorium at the Unpad Faculty of Law\ncampus, Jatinangor, Wednesday (13\/3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Jazi explained that the position of the Head of Bapeten is ideally filled by a legal practitioner.\nThis is based on the fact that Bapeten is responsible for creating many regulations. These\nregulations\nwill later be used to carry out inspections and become guidelines for nuclear\npermit holders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, the nuclear regulatory standard must\nalso refer to international standards set by the International Atomic Energy Agency\n(IAEA). However, the implementation of these international standards needs to be integrated with\nlocal wisdom in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Jazi also encouraged Law students to be familiar with information and\ncommunication technology. Bapeten itself needs ICT support in socializing\nvarious legal regulations to potential nuclear permit holders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe challenge ahead is how to make the licensing\nsystem in Bapeten be IT-based. [So] permit applicants can read the rules directly on the web,\u201d said Prof. Jazi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In carrying out its activities, Bapeten needs legal support. This legal support is needed for nuclear law enforcement in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This public lecture was also attended by the\nDean of the Unpad Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. An An Chandrawulan, LL.M., and a number of lecturers\nfrom the Unpad Faculty of Law.
