[unpad.ac.id, 13/6/2020] Universitas Padjadjaran has developed breakthroughs and innovations to aid in COVID-19 laboratory testing activities. Currently, five innovative products have been developed with the support of research grants from the Ministry of Education and Culture and in collaboration with other parties. The products are portable and can withstand long trips, allowing them to be used in mobile laboratory facilities.
The first innovation is “NanoMag PrintG”, a relatively inexpensive but high-quality material to support RNA extraction in COVID-19 testing using the real time PCR method. Second is the Auto Magnetic Extractor or “AutoMager”, an automatic machine product for large-scale DNA / RNA extraction based on magnetic beads. Third, “GanexpaD” is an innovative kit and RNA extraction system with a high capacity and low cost, created in collaboration between the Unpad RSP Laboratory and the ITB Biochemistry Laboratory. Fourth is the “VitPAD-iceless Transport System”, a Viral Transport Medium (VTM) that has the durability and security to store and transport virus samples at room temperature. Finally, the “Chilli miniCycler” is a conventional PCR machine that can be operated either in laboratories, sentinel labs, or in field conditions. IoT integration allows the formation of support networks throughout the country.
