[unpad.ac.id, 16/02/2021] Pre-assessment on the first batch of the “Unpad Wellness” program has been completed last Tuesday (09/02). A number of 182 Unpad staff participated in the pre-assessment on the first batch.

“Unpad Wellness” program leader, Dr.med. Setiawan, dr., said that there have been positive achievements based on the results of the psychological condition questionnaire filled by each participant. Psychologically, some participants were in good conditions that reached a quality of life scale number of 88.7 out of 100.

On the other hand, results from the physical check-up still reveal health conditions that were short of what was expected. The number is even proportionally higher than the national standard.

“What we saw is that physically speaking, there is a lot of homework to do,” Setiawan said on Monday (15/02).

There are three main assessment processes that each participant must follow; a six-minute walk test, an anthropometric measurement, and a blood test. From those three assignments, the team has focused their attention on several notes.

Setiawan explained as an example, the percentage of incidents of high blood pressure from the entirety of the participants almost reached 35%. Other than that, the percentage of metabolic syndromes reached 41%.

Meanwhile, from the anthropometric measurement results, it was found that as a whole 65% suffered from obesity. “Based on fat composition, proportionally more female participants are in the healthy category than male participants. That is 31% of females and 22% of males,” Setiawan added.

From the six-minute walk test results, 58% of participants still fall below the standards based on age, gender, height, and weight.

The Dean of the Postgraduate School remarked that based on these assessment results, several treatment programs will be performed. Treatments ranged from consultation to individual medication processes. Consultations will be performed in the Unpad Health Clinic according to schedule.

Aside from that, there will also be group consultation services through WhatsApp. Every group will be accompanied by a nutritionist, a sports physiologist, a specialist in internal medicine, and a psychologist. Participants will also attend a health seminar every 2 weeks to increase knowledge and motivation.

“Participants will be expected to contribute in group discussions on WhatsApp by noting their physical activities and diet as a shared monitoring and evaluation tool,” Setiawan said.

The “Unpad Wellness” program has the target in improving the condition of every participant. Numbers at a high-risk level ought to be reduced or even eliminated. As such, Setiawan pushed for the participants to discipline themselves and participate actively in this program.

“We will do another check-up on this Insyaallah in early April 2021, before Ramadhan,” he concluded.
