BIPA Unpad is an Indonesian Language Learning Program for Foreign Speakers held at Universitas Padjadjaran. This program is addressed to foreigners that want to learn the Indonesian language. The BIPA teaching program has been running since 1980. Currently, the BIPA Program is under the Language Center, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran.
The Course of Indonesian for Speakers of Foreign Languages consists of two programs: the regular and non-regular programs.
There are four levels in this program: Elementary (Beginner’s) Level, Intermediate Level, Advanced Level, and Upper Advanced Level. Each level is taught within a period of one semester. Before taking a program, a participant must take a placement test.
Course materials include vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Fieldwork courses and cultural excursions are also parts of the program. In addition, the course also includes general lectures on Indonesian Studies, which discuss a wide range of social, cultural, political, and historical topics on Indonesian and Sundanese cultures. Classes are taught on weekdays (Monday through Friday), from 8:30 to 11:45 am, with a 15-minute break. All class meetings are conducted at the Universitas Padjadjaran Building IV, 1st Floor, Jl. Dipati Ukur No. 35, Bandung
The Regular course fee is IDR 10,000,000.00 per semester, modules included.
The Registration fee is IDR 250,000.00.
1) Intensive Courses
Intensive courses are held according to participants’ interests, with at least a 40-hour package.
The subject matter in this intensive course is the same as the regular course but there are no fieldwork courses unless the participants are interested. Intensive course participants can accommodate 5-10 people.

2) Private Courses
The minimum length for private courses is 40 hours. Materials and modules are adjusted to the participants’ needs.
The Private course fee is IDR 200,000.00 per hour.
3) Sundanese Course Programs
BIPA also offers Sundanese Course Programs. Classes are taught by lecturers of the Sundanese Study Center, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran.
The aim of the program is to provide participants with knowledge and training of the Sundanese language and culture. Course materials are focused on the Sundanese language and culture as part of the entire Indonesian culture.
Types of programs, course fees, and location of classes are the same as those of the programs offered in the course of Indonesia for Speaker of Foreign Language.
Upon request, foreign students can be placed with Indonesian families selected by the Language Center. Home-stay fees are terms and conditions dependent.
