[unpad.ac.id, 13/10/2020] A total of 361 participants from various countries participated in the 10th International Conference and Workshop on High Dimensional Data Analysis (ICW-HDDA) 2020 event, which was held online on Tuesday (13/10) and Wednesday (14/10). The event was officially opened by the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hendarmawan, M.Sc., Tuesday (13/10) morning.
Prof. Budi Nurani Ruchjana, M.S as chairwoman of the 10th ICW-HDDA 2020, said that the event was held in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Computer Science of the Universitas Padjadjaran Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) with FMIPAs from a number of domestic and foreign universities, namely Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Udayana, IKIP Siliwangi, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Science of Brock University, Canada.
The event was also held in collaboration with the Indonesian Mathematical Society, Indonesian Mathematics Educator, MIPAnet, and the Research and Innovation Staff Exchange International Consortium on Social Media Analytics, which is funded by the European Union and supported by the Indonesian Re for Reinsurance Solution.
Additionally, the event was also fully supported by Indonesia Re, Data Science Center UI, Samsung, Traveloka, and the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space.
Prof. Budi Nurani Ruchjana, M.S revealed that the event was held to manifest international collaboration and increase the interaction of researchers in the field of Data Science.
Prof. Budi hoped that this event could provide inspiration for the participants in conducting research. In addition, this seminar was also expected to provide opportunities for researchers and students to discuss and collaborate together.
“We hope that this conference and workshop can be beneficial for the participants, organizers, and institutions, to help increase research and educational cooperation that will be beneficial to society,” hoped Prof. Budi.
The event consisted of four parts, specifically High Dimensional Data Analysis, Social Media Analytics for Society and Crisis Communication, Mathematics and Statistics, and Mathematics Education.
In the plenary session, this event presented Prof. S. Ejaz Ahmed (Brock University, Canada), Feryaal Ahmed (Western University, Canada), Prof. Anand N. Vidyashankar (George Mason University, USA), Prof. Peihua Qiu (University of Florida, USA), Prof. Stefan Stieglitz (University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany), Prof. Michael Emmerich (LIACS Leiden University, Netherlands), Prof. Sri Wahyuni (UGM, Indonesia), Prof. Edy Tri Baskoro (ITB, Indonesia), Prof. Heris Hendriana (IKIP Siliwangi), Dr. Alhadi Bustamam (UI), and Prof. Dr. Budi Nurani Ruchjana (Unpad).
Additionally, this event presented 16 invited speakers from the USA, Europe, and Indonesia, which included Prof. Chang Yu (Vanderbilt University Medical Center, USA), Prof. Ali Shojaie (University of Washington, USA), Dr. Lin Xue and Prof. Liqun Wang (University of Manitoba, Canada), Prof. Suzan Verberne (Leiden University, Netherlands), Dr. Bjorn Ross (University of Edinburgh, Scotland), Prof. Frank Takes (Leiden University, Netherlands), Prof. Atje Setiawan Abdullah (Unpad), among others.
Also present were Prof. Ch. Rini Indrati (UGM), Dr. Nursanti Anggriani (Unpad), Dr. Sarini Abdullah (UI), Prof. Komang Darmawan (Unud), Prof. Yaya S. Kusumah (UPI), Prof. Zulkardi (Unsri), Prof. Euis Eti Rohaeti (IKIP Siliwangi, Indonesia), Dr. Rully Charitas Indra Prahmana (UAD), and Prof. Dr. Asep K Supriatna (Unpad).
“We also thank the speakers who have attended from the USA, Europe, and Indonesia,” said Prof. Budi.
The event was filled with virtual workshops in collaboration with the industry and practitioners, covering 6 topics: Toward Data Science: Application of Optimal Transport Theory for Unsupervised Generative Adversarial Network (UI), Data Wrangling and Scraping (UGM), Gaussian Copula processes on time series data (ITB), Islamic Mathematical Finance (ITB), Spatio Temporal Modeling for Media Social Data (Unpad), and Math Learning Media with VBA for Excel (IKIP Siliwangi).
