Unpad Sustainable Tourism Magister Program Holds “Unpad Tourism Day 2019”

[unpad.ac.id, 9/30/2019] Universitas Padjadjaran Sustainable Tourism Magister Program held an event called “Unpad Tourism Day 2019” in Bale Rumawat Unpad, Jalan Dipati Ukur No. 35, Bandung, last Thursday (9/26).

Unpad Tourism Day is an event to share knowledge among stakeholders in the field of tourism wrapped with the concept of an interactive talk show. This activity raised the theme “Think Globally, Act Locally”.

The head of the event Eka Susanto, S. ST. Par, explained that Unpad Tourism Day later would become a forum for tourism, especially tourism academics in Bandung Raya to improve their network.

“We also encourage every university in Bandung Raya that have tourism study program to actively participate in tourism development, at least in the closest area to us, like the initial concept that is Think Globally, Act Locally,” said Eka in a release received by the Office of Public Communications Unpad

Eka further revealed that this event became a symbolic form of Unpad in celebrating World Tourism Day on September 27th. Besides the talk show, a number of competitions were conducted in the event, such as tourism photography, tourism video, and also tourism branding poster.

“This activity will be an annual event that will be held by Unpad Sustainable Tourism Magister Program as a form that Unpad is also committed to contributing to the development of tourism industry in Indonesia, certainly with the paradigm of sustainable development,” said the Chairperson of Unpad Sustainable Tourism Magister Program Unpad Dr. Evi Novianti, M. Si.

The main speakers in the first session were: Dr. Ir. Yun Yunus Kusumahbrata, M. Sc (Geopark Acceleration Team, Ministry of Tourism Indonesia) and Prof. Dr. Dadang Suganda, M. Hum (Unpad Lecturer).

The second session was filled by speaker Tatan Pria Sudjana (The Chairman of West Java Kadin), Dr. Achmad Sjarmidi (Citarum Harum Task Force), and also Rahmat Leuweung (DPKLTS).

At the event, which was attended by a number of academics tourism, as well as tourism practitioners, the Sustainable Tourism Magister Study Program launched a book titled “Pariwisata Berkelanjutan Edisi Hari Air” (Sustainable Tourism Water Day Edition) and “Potensi Pariwisata Jawa Barat.” (West Java Tourism Potentials).*
