Unpad Establishes Collaboration with Two National Arbitration Institutions

[unpad.ac.id, 4/3/2019] Universitas Padjadjaran has established a collaboration with two national arbitration institutions. The two institutions are the Indonesian National Arbitration Board (BANI) and the Indonesian Arbitrator Institute (Iarbi).

The collaboration between Unpad and BANI was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by Unpad Rector Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad with the Chairman of BANI, M. Husseyn Umar, S.H., FCBArb., FCIArb. In addition, the signing of the Unpad-IARBI Memorandum of Understanding was conducted by the Rector with the Chairman of Iarbi, Ir. Agus G. Kartasasmita, M.H., FCIArb.

The signing of the two Memoranda of Understanding was held at the Tommy Koh Mochtar Kususmaatmadja Auditorium in Building 3 of the Faculty of Law (FH Unpad), Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor, Monday (4/3). A number of Unpad leading figures attended the event, including the Dean of the Unpad Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. An An Chandrawulan, FH leaders, as well as students from the Unpad Faculty of Law.

According to the Rector, these collaborations are expected to be an opportunity for Unpad to contribute more in resolving the nation’s challenges. “We also hope that with our access to these two institutions, we can obtain material for the development of our own knowledge or strategies,” said the Rector.

He also sent a message to FH Unpad to produce more research through collaboration with the two institutions. “Don’t only target publication. But rather target how to produce new strategies to face challenges,” he added.

Meanwhile, M. Husseyn Umar said that this cooperation would encourage institutions of higher education to be more active in arbitration activities in the field. BANI’s workspace does not only involve arbitrator practitioners, but also academics and many kinds of professions outside of legal experts.

“This MoU and agreement is expected to be implemented and increase knowledge,” said Husseyn.

In addition to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, the signing of the Collaborative Agreement between the Dean of the Unpad Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. An An Chandrawulan, with the Chairman of BANI, M. Husseyn Umar. After the signing, the event continued with a studium generale by M. Husseyn Umar. *
