Unpad Establishes Collaboration with Akita University

“Unpad’s collaboration with Akita University has good prospects going forward,” said the Rector.

In the Memorandum of Understanding, the two universities agreed to undertake cooperation including the exchange of teaching staff, researchers, and administration; student exchange; conduct joint research; hold general lectures and symposiums; the exchange of academic information; shared laboratory use; as well as various other collaborative activities centered around the Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education comprising Education, Research and Community Service).

As a first step, the Faculty of Geological Engineering (FTG) will be the first faculty that implements cooperation with Akita University. One of the plans that will be developed is the implementation of the Dual Master’s Degree Program between FTG Unpad and Akita University.

The Rector said that in the field of geology, this cooperation is expected to contribute to the resolution of geological challenges, especially in West Java. “With the competencies that we have, the Government has given us (Unpad) the opportunity to contribute to optimizing various potential geological resources,” he said.

The Rector also hopes that future cooperation will involve the various other faculties in Unpad.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Unpad Vice Rector for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Academic Corporation, Dr. Keri Lestari, M.Sc., Apt., the Dean of Unpad FTG, Dr. Vijaya Isnaniawardhani, as well as a number of Unpad FTG lecturers. The delegation from Akita University also included Vice President Prof. Tokiyuki Sato.*
