Unpad Displays Leading Products in “Indonesia Innovation Day 2019” in Germany

[unpad.ac.id, 2/7/2019] The leading product from Universitas Padjadjaran, “Tehdia” is one of the products displayed at “Indonesia Innovation Day (IID) 2019” held by the Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education at Saarland University, Germany, Wednesday (26/6) and Thursday (27/6).

Universitas Padjadjaran Vice Rector for Research, Public Service, Partnership, and Academic Corporation Dr. Keri Lestari, S.Si., M.Si., Apt. with Head of Business Incubation Center/Oorange Unpad Diana Sari, PhD., take part in “Indonesia Innovation Day (IID) 2019” held by the Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education at Saarland University, Germany, Wednesday (26/6) and Thursday (27/6).

The event IID 2019 is held in order to introduce various product and technology innovation made by Indonesians to other countries. These products are the results from research products and are ready to be marketed. This year, IID is followed by 20 Innovation Centers (PUI) and 6 State University Science and Technology areas (KST PTN) in Indonesia.

The 6 KST PTN that took part in the event were KST Unpad, KST Maritim Universitas Diponegoro, Center of Maritime Safety and Marine Installation Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November, Science, Technology, and Business Incubator Institut Pertanian Bogor, Technopark Institut Teknollgi Bandung, and KST Universitas Gadjah Mada.

Universitas Padjadjaran Vice Rector for Research, Public Service, Partnership, and Academic Corporation Dr. Keri Lestari, S.Si., M.Si., Apt. said, “Tehdia” was chosen because it’s a leading product from KST Unpad who already has partners in the industry sector and already has permit of distribution from the Indonesian FDA.

In short, “Tehdia” is an innovation in tea products that is naturally sweet, a combination between black tea leaves and stevia leaves. Tehdia is the first product containing stevia leaves to get a distribution permit from the Indonesian FDA. Until now, there has been no other product containing stevia leaves to get a permit.

“The development of ‘Tehdia’ also uses the Sociotechnopreneur model. This concept puts forward the locals’ social condition to get an appropriate technology and direct the public to get involved in the entrepreneurship of this product,” said Dr. Keri.

Based on research by Unpad Faculty of Pharmacy, “Tehdia” can control blood glucose levels, so it’s safe and good for people with diabetes or for those who want to take precautions against diabetes.

Because of that, “Tehdia” is the only Unpad product displayed in IID 2019. In this event, Unpad sends Dr. keri Lestari and Head of Business Incubation Center/Oorange Unpad Diana Sari, PhD.

Diana added, some visitors gave special interest in “Tehdia”. “The response from visitors is good because this is a functional tea for diabetes, it’s a solution to diabetes,” said Diana.

Other than forming partnership with Sister STP, Unpad also signed a Letter of Intent for partnership with three firms, PT. Winros Sukses Indonesia, Oscar GmbH Handel Vertrieb Service, and Ospedalia AG, Switzerland, to market the products from Unpad according to European standards and needs.
