[unpad.ac.id, 27/6/2019] Universitas Padjadjaran opens Applied Bachelor (D4) registration for the 2019/2020 academic year. This year, the vocational Applied Bachelor program opens 7 new majors with some of them being a transdisciplinary major of various sciences in Unpad.
Universitas Padjadjaran Acting Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rina Indiastuti, M.SIE., explained, holding the vocational Applied Bachelor program is needed to fulfil the need for applicative labor in the industrial sector.
“We (Unpad) are responding to demands from business, industrial, and government for applicative bachelors, so they can immediately work in fields that fit their competence and qualification,” said Prof. Rina when holding the press conference in Unpad Executive Lounge, Dipati Ukur Street No. 35, Bandung, Thursday (27/6).
The eight majors to be opened this year will complete the six vocational majors already opened before. Prof. Rina said, these majors are opened to fulfil the need for competent human resources in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era.
Other than that, these majors were opened to respond various national potentials, especially in West Java. Hopefully, these majors can help form human resources that can develop that potential.
The 8 new Applied Bachelor majors are Public Accounting, International Business, and Digital Marketing in the Faculty of Economics and Business, Logistics Business and Digital Archiving in Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Marine Tourism in Faculty of Fisheries and Naval Science, as well as Agrotechnopreneur.
For the major Agrotechnopreneur, the major is an integrated transdisciplinary major from various faculties, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Husbandry, Faculty of Agricultural Industry Technology, and Faculty of Fisheries and Naval Sciences.
Meanwhile, the 6 Applied Bachelor majors that has been held the previous years and will also be opened this year are: Tax Accounting (FEB), Government Administration (FISIP), Public Administration (FISIP), Chinese Language and Culture (FIB), Media Production Management (Fikom), and Midwifery (FK).
Integration with Practitioners
Prof. Rina explained, to uphold the quality of these vocational majors, all majors will be based on partnership. The partnership is done with a number of businesses, industries, or the related government sector.
“The first partnership is formulation of learning outcomes/curriculum. Because vocational graduates are encouraged to work immediately, so the target is what the business world needs, how the curriculum will be like,” she explained.
The second partnership is work placement. Unpad vocational program emphasizes the balance between theory and practice. This is what differentiates it from the regular bachelor program.
“The special thing about vocational is the same amount of practical work, or even more. This is what improves their skills,” she added.
Because of that, the lecturers in Applied Bachelor majors are not only academicians. Some practitioners from business, industry, and government will also be included as lecturers or instructors
“Vocational majors need lecturers or instructors with practical experience,” said Prof. Rina.
Before holding the press conference, Prof. Rina Indiastuti accompanied by Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Arry Bainus did a handover of permit for Applied Bachelor program to the related faculties’ dean. The handover is done in Unpad Executive Lounge, Dipati Ukur street No. 35, Bandung, Thursday (27/6).
The registration for Applied Bachelor program will be opened on July 1st 2019 on 13.00 WIB to July 13th 2019 on 23.59 WIB. Applicants can access the registration information on http://smup.unpad.ac.id/.
The Unpad Applied Bachelor program accepts SMA/MA/SMK graduates from 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. This is proven by diploma submitted at the registration. For 2019 graduates, diploma can be replaced by Certificate of Graduation or temporary diploma.
The selection for the Applied Bachelor program uses the same method as the Regular Bachelor program, using a Computer Based Written Test using an Android o Mobile Assisted Testing (MAT) system. This test is divided into two, Academic Potential Test and Scholastic Competence Test.
Academic Potential test will include subjects according to the chosen cluster, such as scitech mathematics, physics, biology, and chemistry for science and technology cluster, as well as basic mathematics, geography, history, sociology, and economics for the social sciences cluster.
Meanwhile Scholastic Competence Test will test knowledge, comprehension, logic, quantitative, as well as the examinee ability to understand written text.
After passing the first selection, applicants will have to follow the second phase in the form of TOEFL and interview with mini interview model. Other than that, there are also specific tests held by some faculties; Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) for Midwifery major or swimming test for Marine Tourism.
The registration fee for the test is Rp500.000 and Rp600.000 for major with special tests.
Meanwhile, for applicants from poor families must have either Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP), Kartu Program Keluarga Harapan (KPKH), Kartu Jakarta Pintar (KJP), or Kartu Keluarga Sejahtera (KKS).
The announcement for the first phase of the selection will be held on July 25th 2019. Meanwhile the final announcement will be on August 6th 2019.
