[unpad.ac.id, 16/5/2019] 7th semester students from major outside of main campus (PSDKU) Universitas Padjadjaran in Pangandaran conducted a natural disaster drill, especially disasters caused by high tides. This simulation was done at Pangandaran’s West Beach, Tuesday (14/5).
This simulation is an implementation from the general course given to all sixth semester students in PSDKU Unpad Pangandaran. It is intended to prepare students towards disaster risk happening in Pangandaran.
This simulation is guided by four lecturers from the Emergency and Crisis Department of the Faculty of Nursing who are also administrators of the West Java Indonesian Emergency and Disaster Association, Yanny Trisyani Ph.D. Etika Emaliyawati M.Kep., Ayu Prawesti M.Kep., and Ristina Mirwanti M.Kep.
Other than guidance from Faculty of Nursing lecturers the simulation also involve the level 2 Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in Pangandaran region, the police, life guard, and the Pangandaran health center.
In the release received by Unpad’s Public Communication Office, the simulation done included disaster-handling on pregnant women, drowning victims, and refugees. In this case, the public around the beach also took part in the simulation.
The handling started with categorizing the victims according to severity. Then, first aid was done in the medical post, as well as referral to the front medical post, the Pangandaran health center.
