The Board of Trustees appointed Prof. Dr. Rina Indiastuti, M.SIE.,
As the elected Rector of Universitas Padjadjaran in the period of 2019-2024. The appointment of Prof. Rina as the rector was conducted through a plenary session held by Unpad MWA in Unpad Ruang Serba Guna (multipurpose room), Jalan Dipati Ukur No. 35, Bandung, Sunday (6/10).
Chairperson of Unpad MWA Rudiantara said that the appointment of Prof. Rina as the rector was conducted based on the acclamation carried out by all members of Unpad MWA. This acclamation process became an advantage in the rector election process at Unpad, given the voting system was not used in the election.
“The acclamation is 100 percent, not even counting votes is done,” said Rudiantara in a press conference held at the Executive Lounge Unpad, Sunday (6/10) afternoon.
The press conference was attended by all members of Unpad MWA, including West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and the Director General of Learning and Student Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Research and Technology Prof. Ismunandar represented Menristekdikti.
The Minister of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia further said that the election of rector of the 6 Rector Candidates was not meant to find the best of all. He emphasized that the elected rector is a person who can complement one another.
“These 6 Rector Candidates are committed to each other if they are chosen, they want to invite and utilize good programs from others. Those who are not chosen, they want to support and become a team of elected Rector. So, this has a family atmosphere but still (we) prioritize quality, ” said Rudiantara.
In the 2019-2024 Unpad Rector election process, there were a number of stages carried out. Starting from selecting the Rector Candidates online, determining the Rector Candidates through the Academic Senate plenary session, to requesting input from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).
In addition, the assessment was also carried out from a track record of social media behavior, an assessment from the National Counterterrorism Board, to an assessment by the Telkom Assessment Center Indonesia.
Target to Rank the World’s Top 500 Public Universities
Rudiantara encouraged the chosen Rector to lead Unpad to become the world’s top 500 public universities. This effort is the government’s target for the State University of Legal Entity (PTNBH).
“We make strategic programs and quick win programs. Until the end of the year, MWA will help the chosen Rector to prepare their strategic program,” said Rudiantara. Meanwhile, Prof. Rina said, to be able to reach the target of 500 world-class public universities, good cooperation with all elements is needed. “PTN BH is demanded to enter the world’s top 500 universities, it is not possible to run it alone. Unpad has good momentum together for the road to 500 world-class universities,” explained Prof. Rina.
Regarding the quick win program, there are a number of planned programs that will be implemented. First, Unpad will evaluate student organizations. It is intended that the energy of students through student organizations can be channeled properly. “Our students are designed to graduate not only with knowledge (inside the class) but also
other competencies,” said Prof. Rina.
In addition, Unpad is also committed to increasing support for West Java. The program to open access to education for the people of West Java will continue to be maintained. Another form of support is the establishment of the West Java Study Center.
This effort is hope for West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil. On this occasion, Ridwan Kamil hoped that the West Java Study Center in Unpad can support the resolution of various problems in West Java in the next five years.
