[unpad.ac.id, 22/4/2019] Director General of Post and Information Technology Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ahmad M. Ramli, SH. MH. FCB. Arb said that the application of progressive legal principles is very relevant during the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
“We can no longer allow the law to go together or behind the advancement. The law must a step ahead,” said Prof. Ramli.
In the industrial era 4.0, the development of information and communication technology also needs to be in line with intellectual property protection. Prof. Ramli said that if the creation is not protected, it will disrupt the creative process.
“For example, when a creativity has been built, but the commercialization is not optimal because of those who use it are hijackers, causing the creators to lose their enthusiasm or spirit to make new creations,” said Professor of Law Faculty Unpad.
Besides Prof. Ramli, there was also a speaker from Unpad Faculty of Law Emeritus Professor, Prof. (Em). Eddy Damian, S.H., Member of the Telecommunications Regulatory Committee of the Indonesian Telecommunications Regulatory Body (KRT BRTI), Dr. Agung Harsono, ST., DEA, and Head of Sub Directorate of Special Telecommunications Monitoring and Evaluation and Telecommunication Network Directorate of Post and Information Control, Indra Apriadi S.IP, M.H.
The event was officially opened by the Dean of Faculty of Law Unpad Prof. Dr. An An Chandrawulan, SH, LLM. Prof. An An said that the challenge ahead is on how to produce graduates who are able to compete in various capacities. This is done along with the increasing competition of educational institutions and the paradigm shift in the sciences related to telecommunications, intellectual property, and the digital economy.
