Dean of the Faculty of Psychology Unpad Prof. Dr. Hendriati Agustiani, M.Si said that Positive Psychology has become one of the developed issues in recent years. The variety of interventions in the Positive Psychology approach has also expanded widely.

“There is a lot of research on Positive Psychology. For this reason, a conference among researchers is needed so that they can exchange information with each other, “said Prof. Hendriati.

On this occasion, Dr. Johan Karremans from the Department of Social Psychology Behavioral Science Institute (BSI) Radboud University, Nijmegen, Netherlands was present. He discussed the correlation between forgiveness and mindfulness related to interpersonal relationships.

Karremans said that instead of taking revenge, forgiving when you are hurt is important to maintain good relations with someone. Forgiveness becomes important especially in maintaining good relations with someone who is very valuable to our lives. However, forgiveness can sometimes be a very difficult thing to do since negative thoughts are particularly still difficult to
be removed.

Meanwhile, there are many positive things if we apply mindfulness in our daily lives. One of them is to improve mental health and emotional control. Applying mindfulness is also believed to help the process of forgiveness.

“Mindfulness can be a tool in the process of forgiveness,” Karremans said.

According to him, further research related to this matter also needs to be done, especially to assist in clinical intervention. *
