Managing Director of Perum Perhutani: If Threatened with Collapse, Companies Must Restructure

[unpad.ac.id, 1/3/2019] According to the Managing Director of Perum Perhutani, Denaldy M. Mauna, the restructuring and transformation of a business entity is of high importance. These activities are intended to ensure that the managed company or business entity can grow sustainably.

Director of Perum Perhutani Denaldy M. This was conveyed by Denaldy in a general lecture in front of the academic community of Universitas Padjadjaran as part of the “BUMN Managing Director General Lecture Series” held at Graha Sanusi Hardjadinata Unpad, Jalan Dipati Ukur No. 35, Bandung, Friday (1/3).

Restructuring is carried out especially if the company is in a “critical” condition. If the company’s sales, revenue and profit sectors continue to decline, this is a sign that the company is experiencing bankruptcy, said Denaldy.

This condition has been experienced by Perum Perhutani. As a state-owned enterprise tasked with managing state forest resources, Perhutani has experienced a decline in income and profits due to sluggish sales. Inevitably, restructuring must be done.

“Firm and courageous actions must be taken by the company’s leadership,” said Denaldy.

There are several effective strategies for maintaining a business entity – from situation analysis, management changes, to carrying out emergency actions. In addition, the company must set targets in order to overcome the danger of falling behind.

In the general lecture, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on behalf of the Unpad Rector, represented by the Vice Rector of Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Unpad Academic Corporation Dr. Keri Lestari, M.Sc., with Denaldy M. Mauna. *
