Here are the Ten “Padjadjaran Kartini” – According to the Unpad Directorate of Governance and Public Communication

[unpad.ac.id, 22/04/2019] R.A. Kartini’s struggle a century ago has inspired Indonesian women to dare to explore their potential. Women don’t just take care of domestic responsibilities. Now, there are many Indonesian women who have shown their accomplishments and achievements and are able to make the nation proud.

From all of Indonesia’s intelligent and accomplished female figures, some can be found in Universitas Padjadjaran. Their contributions in their respective fields can prove to be an inspiration to be able to benefit the community.

The Unpad Directorate of Governance and Public Communication has curated a list of ten inspirational Unpad female figures, selected from among lecturers, students, and education staff. Their scientific progress, research, and dedication has not only contributed to the progress of the university, but also to the progress of West Java, Indonesia and the world. One could say that they are the Kartini of Padjadjaran, or “Padjadjaran Kartini”.

The Unpad Director of Governance and Public Communication, Aulia Iskandarsyah, PhD, explained that the selection of 10 Padjadjaran Kartini figures was an effort to reflect on of R.A. Kartini’s struggle from an academic point of view.

“We see if there are figures in Unpad who have done good work and have made a good impact, for both society and the organization as a whole. This is a broadcast to invite kindness and to encourage people to continue to excel, especially already highly accomplished women,” said Aulia when met in her office on Monday (22/4).

The selection of 10 Padjadjaran Kartini figures was determined based on the results of a review of publications and reported news that had been posted on Unpad’s official website.

Aulia believes that other than the 10 selected figures, there are still many great women from Unpad who have activities, accomplishments, and achievements that we can be proud of. “In the future there may be 50 or 100 Padjadjaran Kartini to show that they can be found at every level in Unpad,” said Aulia.
