Three students of the Geophysics Faculty of Mathematics and
Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Padjadjaran won first place in “Geoscience Exploration Competition” paper and poster competition held by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) University of Indonesia Student Chapter, Depok, 3-5 October 2019. They are Nathanael Halawa, Sitaresmi Nur Almas, and Risya Fauziyyah.
The competition carried the theme “Enhancement of Oil and Gas Upstream Industry”. Related to the theme, Nathanael and colleagues took the sub-theme “Exploration Geophysics or Geology” with the title “Mendeteksi Area Prospek Hidrokarbon pada Cekungan Subvulkanis Menggunakan Metode Low Frequency Passive Seismic (LFPS) Dikonfirmasi dengan Metode Gayaberat”. (Detecting the Hydrocarbon Prospect Area in the Subvulcan Basin Using the Low-Frequency Passive Seismic (LFPS) Method Confirmed by the Gravitational Method)
“The paper is motivated (by the fact) that the research area is an area with an active petroleum system, but so far there is no economic well that has been found,” Risya said in a release received by the Unpad Public Communication Office.
The competition is carried out through the stages of abstract selection, full paper submission, and the final stage is the paper presentation. The final stage itself was held on the campus of the University of Indonesia on Friday (4/10) and followed by ten finalists from eight universities. *
